Kashmir’s cherry season lasts a few short weeks in early summer. Part of that harvest is slow-dried into these, and nothing is added on the way. No color, no flavoring, no coating oil.
Most dried cherries in the market are imported and dyed to look richer. Ours look a little uneven because real dried fruit does. The taste is sweet up front with a tart finish, which is exactly how the fresh fruit tastes in June.
They disappear fast. Consider yourself warned.
How to use it
Eat straight from the pack, toss into granola or trail mix, or fold into cakes and cookies in place of raisins.
